How Can I Help?

As is true of most 501 (c) (3) non-profit organizations, Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is able to provide the best service when we have the support of donors who share our vision of helping abused, neglected, and homeless dogs to find their forever  home with loving doggie “parents.”  The need is great.  The fees we charge for adoptions usually come nowhere near the cost of providing our dogs with shelter, healthy food, needed medications, socialization, and surgeries ranging from spay and neuter to more involved procedures for dogs that come to us with physical disabilities that can be at least improved and often completely resolved.  The love, of course, is free of charge!

Many shelter organizations are unable to take the extra step of doing whatever is needed to make it possible for a dog to be as healthy as possible and more likely to be adopted by a caring family.  We believe in the right of every dog to find a forever home, regardless of their condition when they come to us and so we find a way.

Frankly, this gets expensive.  We are very grateful to local veterinarians who provide us with discounted professional services and allow us to “run a tab” when necessary.  And we are often grateful to friends and volunteers who are willing to reach into their pockets and donate money that makes that special care possible.  If you would like to help, please donate via credit card through Pay Pal or by check through the mail to make a tax deductible donation to Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue.

Want to Volunteer?

Bichon and Little Buddies has several different volunteer opportunities.  Hands-on volunteers work with the dogs at the facility, usually walking and socializing the dogs and/or puppies.  For this we ask that you commit to coming in once a week for at least 3 months so the dogs get to know you.  For those that can't commit to a weekly visit, we also need volunteers for special events, transport volunteers, help with special projects (often handyman/woman type projects), and foster homes.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer please fill out the online volunteer form found here: http://www.bichonrescues.com/volunteer-application

Home For The Holidays

Many of the dogs that could use a temporary foster home are former puppy mill/commercial breeding dogs. They aren't quite ready to be pets in the way most people think of, but they are ready to take the next baby step forward. They can stay in a small room or an exercise pen (we can provide), and just be allowed to take everything in. Feed them, give them clean water, clean up after them, and show them that humans aren't all bad. They just need a place where they will be safe. No walks, no playing outside with toys, no taking them visiting or to the dog park, they aren't ready for that yet. If you would love to help one of these breeder girls see what a home is like, let us know. We do have other dogs that were strays or surrenders that can be fostered as well if you are looking to help a more social dog who will likely want to do "doggy" things. Contact information is in the graphic if you would like to help us get our dogs into foster homes over the holidays!
